Lesson #1 is a lesson focusing on one thing, mean. The point of this lesson is to slowly introduce MAD and deviations without overwhelming the students with information. To do this we created a lesson plan that spends all its time on the mean. Because we can look at the mean in two different ways, as fair share or balance point, we focus on fair share and work our way up to balance point. The reason we do this is because balance point allows for the use of deviations which will come in handy while teaching the MAD. I would rate this lesson a 5 when it comes to its alignment with the GAISE Report because it describes fair share and balance point just as the GAISE Report does.
